Brain Mapping & Neurofeedback

A key aspect of supporting mental health and healing centers on how the brain is functioning. This is why we offer qEEG brain mapping and neurofeedback brain training to measure the activity and function of your brain.

The qEEG brain map is assessed by the frequency bands of electrical impulses called brainwaves; Delta, Theta, Alpha and Beta. These frequency bands tell us which areas of your brain are functioning optimally. It also shows us if certain areas are over or under active thereby impacting your brain’s ability to properly function, adapt and respond.

In daily life, your brain is meant to easily shift from aroused to relaxed states like shifting gears in a car. For instance, when balancing our checkbooks or in a class following directions, certain areas of our brain will need to be active and using the faster frequency called Beta.

On the other hand, if after a long day we wish to relax and wind down, a different part of the brain will need to be activated using the slower brainwave frequency called Alpha. Due to such factors like stress, trauma, medications, environmental impact, genetics, food and nutrition, your brainwaves can become stuck or imbalanced and therefore not emitting the proper electrical signals.

What Can I Expect With Neurofeedback?

Running a brain map will allow us to see the current state of your brainwave activity for a deeper understanding in conjunction with your care. Neurofeedback is the proven, non-invasive, highly researched, safe and effective therapy that trains your brainwaves back into their more optimal states for enhanced health and function.

Because the brain is like a muscle that can be exercised for new connections to be formed and made, neurofeedback is like going to the gym for your brain. Over the course of several weeks, your brain will become more responsive and adaptive while better able to self- regulate to smoothly shift between states of relaxation and arousal.

Since the Brain also controls Attention Regulation, Emotional Regulation and Affect Regulation, this ultimately allows the entire Central Nervous System to resume normal functioning. Both brain mapping and neurofeedback brain training may be done in conjunction with counseling or psychiatric care for more permanent and enhanced results.
